Frequently Asked Questions about Built-in Wardrobes

What is built-in furniture?

Built-in furniture is custom-made furniture that’s expertly designed and installed to work with the spaces of your home. Typically, built-in wardrobes are made to measure, helping you to utilise small or awkward space in your home – such as angled walls or confined alcoves.

What door styles are available for built-in wardrobes?

We have three door styles available for built-in wardrobes – mirror, glass-in-frame, and shaker style doors.

What is the required depth for built-in wardrobes?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer required when it comes to the depth of built-in wardrobes, because it depends on where you plan to install them.

If the cabinets are intended to go around the window, where you may want seating and bookshelves, then the recommended depth is 500mm. By comparison, if the built-in wardrobes are intended to go around a door, then the minimum depth required for horizontal hangings is 600mm.

Units can be made to measure depending on the internal specifications of your space, and our team of expert designers and installers can work with you to create built-in furniture that’s customised to your dimensions.

How long does it take to install built-in wardrobes?

The amount of time required to install built-in furniture will depend on the size and complexity of the space and wardrobe units. For example, expect a floor-to-ceiling fitted wardrobe to require two to three days installation time.

How much does a built-in wardrobe cost?

Factors including the size, the quality of material used, and the style and design of the wardrobe will impact its overall cost. Our average price for a four-door wardrobe is around £2,500.
